Was BASEBALL HALL OF FAME COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. 7-27-03 VIDEO'S Was

IN 2003 I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE A VIDEOGRAPHER
FOR THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS.
FOR OUR LOCAL NEWS.
MY PRIMARY JOB WAS THE AUDIO DIRECTOR.
BUT WHEN GARY "THE KID" CARTER
WAS ELECTED TO THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME
I TOLD OUR SPORTS DIRECTOR I HAD TO BE THERE.
THE 1986 WORLD SERIES CHAMPION N.Y. METS
ARE HERO'S OF MINE.
AND I WASN'T GOING TO MISS SEEING THAT IN PERSON.
SO THAT DAY WE LOADED UP THE JEEP AND WENT TO COOPERSTOWN.
LITTLE DID I KNOW IT WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE.
MY PASS WAS NOT INTENDED
FOR WHAT I WOULD END UP DOING.
ONCE THE CEREMONY BEGAN I FOUND MYSELF
IN THE CENTER ISLE RIGHT NEXT TO CAL RIPKIN JR.
WITH THE PROGRAM STARTING I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET BACK.
SO I JUST DROPPED TO THE GROUND WHERE I SHOT ALL THE B-ROLL.
I WAS WITHOUT A TRIPOD
SO I PROPPED UP MY CAMERA WITH MY SHOES AND MY COAT.
I WAS BASICALLY SHOOTING AT A 90% ANGLE.
TO GET MYSELF RESTED BETWEEN SHOTS
I WOULD JUST RELAX AND THE CAMERA RECORDED
SOMETIMES THE GRASS OR SOMETIMES OTHER UNFORTUNATE THINGS.
IT IS AFTER ALL INTENDED TO BE B-ROLL FOR MY SPORTS DIRECTOR,
I WAS LUCKY I GOT TO MEET BOBBY U.,
THE KID (A 1986 HERO) AND EDDIE M.
AND MANY MANY MORE OF THE HALL OF FAMER'S,
IT WAS A DAY YOU JUST NEVER FORGET.
